Welcome to this article, in which we look at the options available for updating your Miris station. This article is dedicated to Miris administrators. First, we'll explain the role of updates, and then we'll show you how to perform them.
Why updating your station ?
The role of an update is to add new functionalities, correct software problems and security flaws present on the system.
That's why the UbiCast Support team will ask you to have an up-to-date station, so you can benefit from the latest patches and improvements. Indeed, it's important to have an up-to-date station, which will also contain the latest security updates. Depending on how you use the station, you'll need to decide how often you want to carry out these updates. However, don't delay your updates, or you'll end up with a version that's no longer future-proof.
If you have received an email notification about a new version of Miris capture, the UbiCast team encourages you to update your station after reading the change log, and taking the new features and patches into consideration so that you can anticipate any changes impacting your workflow.
Don't worry, the Miris update system is very simple and robust ! In the following section, we'll take you through the steps involved.

2/ SCHEDULE THE UPDATE IN THE CALENDAR
Manual update
There are two ways to perform the update: either perform the action manually on the station or schedule the update via an event in the station calendar. Let's look at the manual method first.
To update the system on the station, click on "About" and then the "Version" tab. This will take you to this page.
Here you'll find the model and serial number of your device, as well as the version of software currently installed.
Click on the "Check for updates" button.
If an update is available, a box will appear:
Click on "Update" to start the update process. The station will download and install the update.
Once the update is complete, you'll see this dialog box prompting you to restart the station to finalize the update process.
Once the station has been restarted, you'll have access to the new version.
Schedule the update in the calendar
You can also schedule updates for your stations using the calendar on your Miris Manager.
Simply go to the station's calendar via the "Planned commands" tab and add an event with the “Upgrade” command.
In this way, the update will be executed automatically at the scheduled time, and the station will restart itself to complete the update installation process.
For further information on this subject, we suggest you read our article "Schedule automatic events with Miris Manager".
If the new version doesn't meet your expectations, you can quickly switch back to the previously installed version. To do this, you'll need an HDMI screen and USB keyboard, so you can choose the previous version in the station's boot menu.
Finally, if you are unable to deploy the new version, we invite you to contact our Support team to help you solve your problem.
Congratulations ! You have installed the new Miris version, and now you will be able to take advantage of the new enhancements and functionalities for your recordings !
