Welcome to this article designed to help you quickly decide which type of integration to choose according to your various needs and restrictions.
Moodle
UbiCast plugins
UbiCast plugins are based on LTI 1.0/1.1 and can be installed by following our dedicated article. They are required for some very useful features such as the integration via a text editor (atto), playlist creation, assignment submission and adding channels as Moodle blocks.
Generic integration
If you have restrictions on plugin installation, you'll need to use the LTI 1.3 generic integration.
The LTI 1.3 integration uses the manager, a tool that brings together the various possibilities for adding media directly from Moodle (File upload, selecting existing media, recording from the browser).
It is no longer possible to use LTI 1.0/1.1 integration since Moodle 4.3.
Other LMS
On other LMSs, for which we don't have plugins, we recommend using the generic LTI 1.3 integration for the reasons given above.
We hope this article has helped you decide which LTI integration to choose, and we invite you to consult the other articles in the “Moodle and other LMS” section.
