In this article, we'll take a look at how to set up a live session using UbiCast's WebStudio from within the Moodle LMS. WebStudio is a tool developed by UbiCast that lets you record and broadcast live your screens, microphones and webcam right from your web browser.
Only the Google Chrome browser supports live streaming with WebStudio.

Preparing the Live page
To set up a live broadcast from Moodle, we advise you to prepare the activity in advance in your course. To do this, you'll need to launch an initial test live to create the live page and make sure everything's working properly.
Start by creating an activity with one of the Nudgis plugins for Moodle : this will give you access to the LTI Manager.
Click on “Record or livestream” to start the WebStudio.
Select the sources you wish to share, your browser will ask for confirmation to authorize the WebStudio to record these sources.
Enter a name for your Live page in the bottom left-hand corner, then click on “Record and live stream”:
The page will be automatically created in your personal channel, and an insert will appear in WebStudio providing a link to the page. Click on Copy to retrieve the page link.
Return to your course and paste the link into the “Resource ID” field. This will automatically be shortened to retain only the ID.
Finally, save the activity - the Live page is now ready. You can stop the broadcast from the WebStudio window.
If you stop your Live broadcast before recording your activity, the ID of the resulting video from the test Live will automatically replace that of the Live page.
Performing a Live Broadcast
Now that your activity is ready for live broadcasting, go to it and click on “Start livestream”.
The WebStudio window opens, asking you to select the sources you wish to share.
You can add a title for the VOD created at the end of the live broadcast.
Finally, click on “Record and broadcast live”.
After a few seconds, Live (Ongoing) will appear in the top right-hand corner of the window :
At the end of your broadcast, simply click on Stop to end the live, and the VOD is automatically added to your personal channel.
You now have all the tools you need to broadcast live from Moodle. Please note that we are in the process of improving this operation to make it more intuitive, and these changes will be added in a very near future version of Nudgis.
