Welcome to this article where we will detail the permissions and the effects that the different rights have on the features available to users. We will focus exclusively on the user and group permission page (which is identical for both).

Global Permissions
Global permissions are those applied to a group or user across the entire site.
Can create channels: This permission gives the user the right to create channels. They can only create channels in locations where they have the "Add" right on the "This channel" line.
The following button will then appear in the catalog navigation:
Can create media: This permission gives the user the right to create media (Videos, Live Streams, Photo groups). They can only create media in locations where they have the "Add" right on the media.
The user will now see the following button when browsing the catalog:
A "Create" button will also appear in the top right corner of the page, next to the user profile access menu:
Can create activities: This permission allows access to the activity creation page, which is located in Administration > Manage Activities.
It also allows access to the "Activities" button in the media side panel (needs editing permission on the media as well) :
Can have a personal channel: This permission allows the user to have a personal channel. This will become the default channel where media they add will be placed when they use the "Create" button. The permissions governing the specific authorizations for users' personal channels will be covered later in this article, in the "Personal Channel Permissions" section.
Can configure subtitling and AI services: This permission gives the user the right to manage the settings for subtitling and AI enrichment services in the global settings and channel settings.
Can manage keywords: This permission gives the user the right to access the global keyword management interface.
Adding keywords on a media's edit page remains possible even without this right being granted.
Can view all statistics: This permission provides access to the global statistics page of the Nudgis platform. The button to access it is located in the Menu bar on the left side of the page.
Can edit users: This permission authorizes the user to create, modify, and delete users and groups on the platform. It also allows them to manage their permissions and is essential for accessing the page we are describing in this article.
Can edit site settings: This permission allows access to most of Nudgis's settings.
It also provides access to the Nudgis Recycle Bin, where deleted videos are stored for the retention period (30 days by default) before being permanently deleted.
It also allows control over the customization of the site's home page and its different widgets.
Can edit site appearance: This permission gives access to the graphic customization of Nudgis (logo, colors, player appearance, CSS code, etc.).
Can control recorders: This permission authorizes access to the control links for UbiCast recorders. This feature allows linking Nudgis and Miris Manager to control the fleet of recorders using Nudgis authentication.
Editing Permissions
Editing permissions define the features available to a user on a catalog item when they have permission to edit that item. (See "Permissions Related to Channels and Media" later in this article)
Move content: Authorizes the user to move the item, i.e., to change its parent channel in the item's settings.
Advanced settings: Allows editing the advanced settings of the item on the settings page.
Live streams: Allows creating and modifying live streams. This permission requires the global media addition permission for creation.
Photo albums: Allows creating and modifying photo albums. This permission requires the global media addition permission for creation.
Player settings: Gives access to the settings tab related to the Nudgis player. This notably allows modifying the layout of your video sources, adding a logo or a background in the case of using dynamic RichMedia. Adding an intro and outro as well as configuring the side panel are governed by this permission.
Appearance settings: Allows access to the item's "Appearance" tab. This permission authorizes setting, among other things, the site's colors and logo when on the item's page.
Video cutting: Allows access to the "Trimming" tab, which lets you split a Nudgis video into multiple parts.
Editorial annotations: Allows adding editorial annotations to the media side panel (chapters, activities, slides, etc.). For adding activities, the global "Can create activities" permission must also be granted to the user.
Community settings: Allows access to the "Community" tab on a media's edit page. This tab allows managing sharing behaviors, downloading, and adding annotations.
Attachments: Authorizes adding attachments to the media side panel. To access the attachment form, click the editorial annotations button.
Media widgets: Allows adding widgets to the Nudgis player's side panel from the dedicated tab on a media's edit page. Widgets allow embedding HTML code in a new tab of the side panel:
Audio tracks: Allows access to the audio track management tab when editing a media.
Resource files: Allows access to the resource management tab on a media's edit page. This permission also gives the right to start transcoding on a media.
Permissions: Allows access to the permissions management tab on media and channel edit pages. A user with this permission can grant access (read, write, delete, etc.) to certain users or groups directly or based on their authentication status (authenticated or not).
Personal Channel Permissions
This section is dedicated to permissions related to a user's personal channel. For these to be effective, the user must have the global "Can have a personal channel" permission.
The permissions in this section are identical to the permissions for the channels and media catalog. We will therefore cover them in detail in the next chapter.
Permissions Related to Channels and Media
In this section, you will find the tree structure of your channels and media catalog. Here you can fine-tune user rights for the entire Nudgis catalog.
Permissions come in two forms:
- Permissions on channels:
These are divided into two parts. First, the permissions concerning the channel itself.
Access: Allows read access to the channel.
Add: Allows adding a sub-channel within the channel. To be effective, the user must have the global permission "Can create channels".
Edit: Allows write access to the channel and gives access to the edit page (the tabs available on the edit page depend on the rights granted to the user in the editing permissions section).
Statistics: Allows access to the channel's statistics.
Delete: Allows deleting the channel. If the recycle bin is enabled in Nudgis, the channel will be moved there.
The second line concerns permissions on the media present in the channel.
Access: Grants read access to the media within the channel.
Add: Allows adding media to the channel.
Edit: Allows access to the edit page for the channel's media.
Publish: Allows modifying the publication status of the channel's media.
Statistics: Allows access to the statistics of the channel's media.
Moderate: Allows moderating comments in the media's side panel within the channel.
Subtitle: Allows adding, deleting, and modifying subtitles for the channel's media.
Delete: Allows deleting the channel's media.
- Permissions on media:
Access: Grants read access to the media.
Edit: Allows access to the media's edit page.
Publish: Allows modifying the media's publication status.
Statistics: Allows access to the media's statistics.
Moderate: Allows moderating comments in the media's side panel.
Subtitle: Allows adding, deleting, and modifying the media's subtitles.
Delete: Allows deleting the media.
The permission page now holds no secrets for you. We invite you to consult our article on how they work, which details the concept of inheritance.
