NUDGIS - 13.2.0
This document contains the functional enhancements of Nudgis 12.0.0. Please refer to the full release note that you have received by email to see all the changes.
1. New homepage (beta)
You can now design multiple homepages on your Nudgis platform, each with specific language and visibility criteria. The objective is to offer a tailored experience for every user profile. For instance, an unauthenticated English-speaking visitor will automatically be directed to a public homepage in English.
This new version, currently in beta, has no impact until you activate it; your current page remains visible.
However, we recommend you to prepare for the transition now, by creating your first templates (even in draft mode). This new homepage will be rolled out as the standard in a few months (without any configuration on your part, a default UbiCast page will automatically apply to all your users).
Three widgets will be available:
- Header widget: it occupies the top of the homepage and allows you to add a main title, an image, or a background color. It offers a personalized entry point, aligned with your institution's visual identity.
-
Text widget: it can be used to highlight specific information, such as an announcement or an event. You can also add links or buttons to easily guide users to other content.
-
Media or channel widget: it is used to display visual content such as videos, either as a carousel or in a single format. It highlights the resources you want to showcase on the homepage. You can even use the filters or search bar to display specific media.

2. Locking of LTI assignment submission
It is now possible to automatically lock assignment submissions as soon as they are submitted via your LMS. Once submitted, a duplicate is created and set to read-only, meaning the student can no longer modify his original submission.
However, each student retains a personal copy of their assignment in their private channel, allowing them to submit a new version if needed.
This process offers several benefits:
- For teachers: submissions are centralized, secure, and cannot be modified after being submitted.
- For students: flexibility is maintained through the personal copy, which allows for resubmission if necessary.
-
For administrators:
- Centralization of media linked to assignment submissions: each submission is automatically associated with a dedicate channel on Nudgis, allowing these contents to be managed independently from other media.
- Lifecycle management of media related to submissions: for example, once an assignment is completed, deleting its corresponding channel removes all related media.
- Controlled storage: submitted media are duplicates of the original files and use the same audio and video resources, so storage capacity is not impacted.
2.1. Understanding the student experience
Once the option is enabled, students can only edit their media until their submission. Once they submit it, a confirmation window will remind them that no changes can be made after validation.
After confirming the submission, the student will see their media in read-only mode and will no longer be able to make any changes.
2.2. Understanding the teacher experience
At the time of submission, a copy of the media is created and transferred to a channel dedicated to this assignment submission. This channel is created at the root of your Nudgis catalog and is named by default "LTI assignments" (it can be renamed). For each assignment submission, a new sub-channel is automatically created, grouping all the students' media for that assignment.
When a teacher accesses an assignment submission media via LTI and if their role grants editing rights, they receive permission to edit and delete the channel related to the assignment submission (as well as the media contained within that channel).
3. Media duplication
It is now possible to duplicate a media while reusing the same audio and video files as the original one. This means that even if you create multiple copies of the same media, the resources are stored only once, thereby optimizing storage space.
4. AI-generated metadata (beta)
Clients with the TSC option (automatic transcription) can now benefit from a new beta feature: automatic metadata generation (title, description, and keywords) using artificial intelligence.
This significantly improves search functionality on the platform. Enriched content is easier to find thanks to clear titles, relevant descriptions, and appropriate keywords. This helps prevent your files from remaining invisible when they have default names or no keywords.
This feature is available for free throughout the beta phase.
