Nudgis offers several types of links for sharing or embedding a video: normal link, permanent link, LTI link, iframe embed link, and download link. The use of each type of Nudgis video link depends on the context (LMS, website, simple sharing, offline work). Here are the typical use cases for each of these links.
Summary
2/ THE PERMANENT LINK (PERMALINK)
6/ WHICH TYPE OF LINK SHOULD I CHOOSE ?
The normal link
The normal link is the "classic" address of the video page on the Nudgis platform.
When you share it (by email, messaging, etc.), the person clicks on it and is taken to the full video page, with the player and associated features (chapters, comments, etc.). This is the link to use for one-off sharing or when you want users to enjoy the full Nudgis interface around the video.
This link is built with an editable token based on the video title, which also makes the links more readable and explicit.
The permalink
The permalink is a URL designed to remain valid over time, even if the video is moved or reorganised in Nudgis (change of channel, renaming of the video title, etc.).
It is particularly recommended for long-lasting media: online courses, institutional pages, educational resources that will be consulted for a long time. Therefore, it should only be used for media that are intended to remain unchanged over time.
This link is constructed with a unique identifier for each video, so to change the link, you will need to delete the existing video and create a new one.
The LTI link
The LTI link is used to integrate a Nudgis video directly into an LMS (Learning Management System) environment that is compatible with the LTI standard, such as Moodle, for example.
Students can access the video from their course space without having to go to the Nudgis platform: the resource appears as an activity or resource within the course. Rights are managed automatically: depending on their role in the LMS (teacher, student, etc.), users will see the appropriate options (read-only, or with editing/moderation functions if authorised).
Please note that Moodle UbiCast plugins offer deep integration with Moodle (playlist creation, assignment submission, course duplication) without the need for separate external LTI links.
The embedding link (embed code)
The embedding link is HTML code that can be copied and pasted into a web page to display the Nudgis player directly on the page.
It allows you to embed the video within a website, intranet, wiki or HTML page without redirection: the user watches the video where they are. They do not need to go to the Nudgis platform directly.
Depending on the configuration, it is possible to adjust the size of the player and choose whether or not to open certain panels (for example, hide the entire page to display only the player). To do this, please refer to the article "Sharing and community in Nudgis media".
The download link
These links provide access to video files and possibly other related resources (audio, subtitles, etc.), if downloading is authorized by the media owner.
Users can download a video file (usually in MP4 format) for offline viewing or local archiving. These links can be enabled/disabled by the media owner in the "Community > Downloads" tab of the video, which controls the visibility of these options in the side panel.
Which type of link should I choose ?
Here is a summary table according to your needs :
| Link type | Main use | Ideal context |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Simple viewing of the Nudgis video page | Quick sharing via email or messaging |
| Permanent | Course materials, permanent referencing in a knowledge base, documentation or internal FAQ | Stable link over time despite video reorganisations |
| LTI | Integration with LMS such as Moodle, Canvas, BrightSpace | Direct integration into the course with role management |
| Iframe | Integration into a web page, institutional site, intranet, portal. | Watch the video directly on your website |
| Download | Offline use or re-editing | Audience requiring local files |
