The TOTP (Time based One Time Password) protocol is an algorithm for generating a one-time password based on durational value. Miris Manager lets you set up this authentication method on the Miris Capture system of your choice. Coupled with the traditional authentication on your systems, this enables double authentication of the user concerned, which is all the more effective as it requires the user to log in within a given time. In this article, we will look at how to do this.
First of all, log on to your Miris Manager as an administrator. Go to the Miris Capture system you wish to equip with TOTP authentication. Once on the page corresponding to the system, click on 'Settings' in the top right-hand corner of the window:
In the ‘Main settings’ tab, edit the TOTP value:
You can then generate a single value for your system:
This will create a QR code that you can flash for use with a 2FA authentication system such as Google Authenticator, as well as a key that you can use to program the TOTP token if you are using dedicated hardware. You can enter this key in the software associated with the device you are using:
Once TOTP authentication has been configured, a unique, temporary code will be requested each time you log on to the system:
TOTP identification can only work in addition to LDAP account authentication or access token authentication, depending on the Miris Manager configuration
