Summary
1/ CREATING THE NUDGIS LIVE PAGE
2/ CONFIGURE YOUR MIRIS BOX FOR NUDGIS LIVE
3/ CUSTOMISE YOUR NUDGIS LIVE STREAM
4/ CONTROL ACCESS TO YOUR EVENT
Creating the Nudgis live page
First, start by creating a new live page on your Nudgis space. This page will serve as the main access point for participants.
You must have the "Can create media" and "Can manage live streams" permissions enabled in your global permissions to be able to create your live stream page.
In the desired channel, click on "Add content here" and select "Advanced":
Select the "Live" type, the "UbiCast or other recorders" format, then enter the title of the live. Finally, click on the "Import" button.
The page corresponding to the new live stream will then be created, and we will be able to access the editing of this page in a third step with the "Edit" button to customise the page.
Configure your Miris box for Nudgis live
On Miris box, after configuring your video and audio sources in your recording profile, you will need to select the live streaming page. Select your Nudgis server in the "Enable live streaming on Nudgis" menu, then search for the title of your live streaming to find this page.
Finally, confirm by clicking on the "Save" button.
Customise your Nudgis live stream
Customise your live page to reflect your organisation identity by adding official colors, visuals and a welcome message, which will reinforce your identity and improve the user experience for your viewers.
On your previously created live streaming page, click on the "Edit" button to access the settings. We recommend that you fill in the main metadata, namely the fields :
- "Message when live is planned" : This message is displayed in place of the player when the live stream is in "upcoming" status. You can also drag and drop an image, as in this example:
This will give you the following result :
- "Message when live is finished" : This message is displayed in place of the player when the live stream is in "over" status. You can also use drag and drop to add an image. Here is an example with text only :
This will give you this result on the live page :
- Thumbnail : This will be displayed if you share the live link on your social networks, instead of the default thumbnail :
Finally, if necessary, you can change the background colours and font on the live stream page's appearance page via the "Appearance" tab. Please refer to this article, "How to customize Nudgis", for more information.
Control access to your event
How do you determine access rights to your live ? Nudgis offers several solutions: in particular, it allows you to restrict the live stream to a specific group (students, teachers, colleagues) or to make the link accessible only to people with the URL, in unlisted mode. This flexibility is ideal for controlling the visibility of your events. It is up to you to decide who can access them according to your preferences.
Please note that until the live page is published, it will not be accessible. Don't forget to publish your broadcast page if you enabled the "Import as draft" option when you created it.
Check that the "Published" option in the "Publishing settings" section is enabled in the Settings tab of your live streaming page.
Here are the three possible statuses for your live stream :
- Public access
The live stream page will be visible directly on the home page and accessible via the "Live" icon in the navigation bar at the top left without authentication.
To do this, grant access to non authenticated users in the Permissions tab of the live stream page.
- Unlisted public access, for confidential but easily shareable
Users must have the link to the live stream page in order to access it. You can send the Normal link (which will be generated from an editable token) via the "Settings" tab on your live stream page.
To do this, grant access to non authenticated users in the Permissions tab of the live stream page and enable the Unlisted option in the Permissions tab of the live stream page.
- Restricted access to a group, reserved for your members or collaborators
To do this, grant access to authenticated users and disable access for non authenticated users in the Permissions tab of the live stream page.
This means that only authenticated users will be able to access the live stream page, which is available via the navigation tab at the top left of the home page.
Live streaming to Nudgis with a Miris box combines simplicity and performance. Ready to launch your next live stream? Connect to Miris box and Nudgis and share your events with confidence.
