ADVANCED SETTINGS PRESENTATION
As we stated, there are three elements that make up the advanced settings in Miris Capture: the API, the Miris Manager settings, and the tally control:
First, the Miris API section will be of interest to you if, for example, you need to control your station via RS232 with equipment such as an Extron matrix switcher or Creston touchscreen.
The second element is the configuration of the Miris Manager. By default, your station is ready to use with your platform, but you may need to apply some specific parameters. This is where you can configure it.
Finally, if you've purchased the indicator light (tally), which provides presenters with a visual indicator of whether recording is in progress, paused or stopped. We'll show you the configuration possibilities offered by this feature.
You can configure the associated service by cliking on, or restore a previously saved version using.
Miris API
The first two options concern the automatic shutdown of the preview if no user is viewing the stream, to save energy and bandwidth. The second is to set the storage alert threshold, which defaults to 20 GB.
Next, you have the option of activating the Miris API in RS232 if your Miris model allows it, otherwise you can activate the Miris API via the network (TCP API), by default listening on port 6666.
Using the Miris API requires the generation of a token, if you want to avoid doing this, please whitelist the IP of the device that will control the Miris station to disable authentication for the use of the Miris API in the advanced options of this section.
Please consult the Miris API documentation online or in PDF format for further information.
Miris Manager
No modifications are required for this section.
However, connection to your Miris Manager requires a valid SSL certificate. If this is not the case, please disable the “Check server SSL certificate” option in the advanced options:
Finally, if you have reset your station and need to reconfigure your Miris Manager, please see our “Quickstart guide” article.
Tally light
You can connect a USB light that flashes during preview and pause, and is permanently lit during recording and live broadcast (to signal to the speaker that they are being filmed). You can modify these behaviours via this interface for each station state:
Idle | Off |
Preview | Blink |
Paused | Blink |
Record | Steady |
Live | Steady |
Record and Live | Steady |
Off: the tally light is off.
Flashing: the tally light flashes with a period of about one second.
Constant: the tally light remains on.
You can also change the brightness, which defaults to 100%.
Finally, if required, you can enable or disable LED management.
We've now seen how to configure the services available in the advanced settings. Now you can launch a test recording to validate that your configuration is working properly.
