The recording interface
Before you can start recording, you need to have a recording profile set up. We recommend that you read our article on "Recording Profiles" to find out the ins and outs. When you get to the recording page, you will be asked to choose a profile, and you can configure as many as you like to suit your use cases. They can have different video and audio sources as well as distinct configurations. For example, for exporting your videos on demand (VOD) with your publication targets on the one hand and on the other hand your live broadcasts.
A popup window will open with a list of existing profiles.
Select one and click "Ok" to go to the recording page.
This page is structured like a traditional web page, with a header, main content, footer and sidebars.
Header
In the header, you will find five items.
The icons will allow you to open the sidebars on the left for navigation and the other one on the far right for station notifications.
The navigation sidebar allows you to change the display theme from dark to light, change the language to French or English and log out. By default, the user's period of inactivity, after which the logout pop-up window will be displayed to the user, is five minutes. |
|
You will find all the notifications sent for the station, sorted by read status: new notifications or read notifications. |
Then you have the title of the page which tells you where you are, here in the Record section. After that, you will see the remaining disk space compared to the available storage, along with the current time. The last icon shows you the connection status to your Miris Manager. If you click on it, you'll get additional debugging information: which Miris Manager you are connected to, HTTP and SSH connection status.
Main content
In the main content, in the middle at the top, you will access metadata editing with the entry "Set title, description,…", in the center, the preview of the rendering of your recording and on the right, a VU meter for visual control of the sound volume. As the speaker of the video, you can define the metadata by clicking on the button, which will open a pop-up window where you can edit the title of the recording, a description, keywords separated by spaces, the name of the speaker and the name of the company.
If you are the fleet administrator, you will have access to an additional menu, the advanced options, which will allow you to define the fields:

Footer
Finally, in the footer, you will find the recording control bar.
The first button indicates the profile currently in use and the button for selecting another profile. In this case, the 'cam-pc' profile is used. The following icon ⨯ stops the current preview and returns to the previous page, i.e. the profile selection page. Next, you will have the option of pausing the recording/live broadcast using the “Pause” button. If you press this button, the word Pause will appear on the screen and the audio will be muted. To resume your recording or live broadcast, please click on the “Resume” button. Of course, the pause sequence will be automatically cut off when the video is rendered.
The next button "Start recording", as its name suggests, will allow you to start recording. When the recording is active, the button will now show you the elapsed recording time. If you wish, you can then add a chapter marker that will be included in the Nudgis player by clicking on the "Add a chapter" button.
The following button, "Start Live", will allow you to start and stop a live broadcast.
Then, if you wish, you can use the 🔊 button to set the monitoring audio and capture output volume. Please note that the capture volume will only work with your physical audio devices. The volume control, for monitoring audio (does not interfere with the recording volume, it is for preview only and can be muted if required), and capture (affects recording). Note that clicking on the icon mutes the recording (confirmation is requested if it is the capture volume).
Finally, the last button is used to switch the preview to full screen. To exit full screen mode, please press the "Esc" button on your keyboard or the « Exit full screen mode » button on your browser and at last this icon .
That completes our tour of the recording interface. Once you have finished recording, you will find it in the Publish section.
Furthermore, you can also schedule recordings. If you're interested in this, please see our dedicated article "Scheduled recordings in Miris Manager".
Congratulations on completing your first recording! Now you can share it with your colleagues after you have published it!
