Welcome to the cockpit of your Nudgis platform! In this section, we will be taking a look at the various tabs that can be used from the home page. From here, you can access all the information and content authorised for your account.
You have already learned how to log in to Nudgis from the 'Login to Nudgis' article, and, depending on your account permissions, you will have access to different content and settings. In this article, we are going to look at how to find your way around the home page, and mark out the first paths to explore your video platform. To begin with, let's take a look at the top banner of the home page:
There are several ways you can explore the site, which will be described in detail in the following chapters:
- The 'Menu', which gives access to all site options
- The logo (which can only be changed by the administrators)
- The search bar, which lets you select by title, keyword, speaker, etc.
- The 'Create' function, which allows you to upload media, record using WebStudio, and add livestreams. It also gives you information on the percentage of available storage space for your account
- Your user account panel, where you can access your personal profile, which can be edited for contact details, and used to find quick links to your content and statistics. This tab also contains links to the 'My Media' and 'My Channel' pages

The Menu
Accessible from the top left-hand corner of the home page, the 'Menu' is the starting point for the site's entire tree structure. As you browse, you can easily access shortcuts in the Menu, but some items are only displayed once the Menu is open (the Categories, Help and language selection).
Here you will find several sections that are essential for navigating Nudgis, starting with the choice of language used by the interface:
Click on the button to open a menu listing the available languages. Select the language you want and press 'Ok' to confirm:
Nudgis is available in the six displayed languages in total
The Menu can be accessed from any page of Nudgis, so the first function offered, the 'Home' button, takes you directly to the homepage of the site.
In second place, the 'Channels' button takes you to the Nudgis main (or 'Parent') channels page:
The 'Categories', meanwhile, are defined by the site's administration team. This allows you to tag the videos you want with one or other category, simplifying the organisation and search for content.
Clicking on one of the categories will take you to a page listing the videos in that category.
If your user account does not have access rights to a video covered by a category, it will not be displayed in the selection.
The next button is 'Latest media', which, as the name suggests, redirects you to the page displaying a list of all the latest media added to the platform, from the most recent to the oldest:
Using the buttons in the top right-hand corner, you can toggle between the list and thumbnail layouts.
In the top left-hand corner you can access the menu for applying filters to the items to be displayed:
In the first block you can select the type of item to display (from Videos, Lives, Photogroups and Channels). The next block allows you to filter items by category.
The shortcuts for the categories seen above correspond to a redirection to the Latest Media page with a pre-applied filter. The same applies to the 'My media' section.
The 'Speaker' field opens a drop-down menu listing the users who own videos. Select one to display the user's media.
Finally, the advanced filters allow you to filter items according to their status:
- Editable or not
- Published or not
- Ready or not
- Live status 'In progress', 'Coming soon' or 'Completed' (for livestream events)
- Unlisted or not
Leaving the filters window, the 'Select' button switches to multiple selection mode:
You will notice that tick boxes appear on the items and that a banner appears at the bottom of the page.
Click on the items to select them and use the lower banner to apply actions to all the items at once (Delete or Move). The Cancel button is used to exit multiple selection mode without having to return to the top of the page. The Select All button is fairly self-explanatory, but it also informs you in brackets of the number of items currently selected.
Now let's look at how the items are presented.
In the top left-hand corner of the thumbnail, a flag indicates the media language. If the video is set to Unlisted, this will be indicated by the icon, while this
icon will appear if the video is not published.
The bottom right-hand corner provides you with information on the storage used by the item (or the items it contains in the case of channels), as well as its duration, if applicable.
In the information banner you will find the title of the item, the number of views, the date added, the parent channel, and an icon indicating the type of media. There are four types of media: Video, Live Broadcast, Photo Groups and Channels.
Let's now go back to the Menu. Under Latest, you will find three shortcuts directly related to your user account: My Media, My Channel, and My Statistics. The first takes you to a list of all the videos for which you are a Speaker, i.e. an 'owner', the second opens the page dedicated to your Personal Channel:
The third one gives you access to your Statistics. They are displayed for media for which you are the speaker and for those for which you have permission to access the statistics. Clicking on this button will take you to a page giving information on the number of views, viewing time, peak views, number of users who have viewed the video, etc... CSV export of total or sorted data is also possible from this menu. Please note that selecting a longer period may increase the time taken to generate statistics. To find out more, please read the dedicated article 'Statistics in Nudgis'.
The next tab, 'Administration', is a bit special. Depending on your level of rights, you will have access to more or less options. As you can see, this tab is primarily intended for administrators, as you can modify site settings, user accounts and their permissions (see the article 'Managing permissions' for more details), authentication methods (see the article 'Authentication 3/3: authentication services' for more details), and synchronisations with third-party services.
In the following, we will confine ourselves to exploring the functions available to the common contributor.
This simplified administration panel allows you to manage the activities added to a media. Clicking the 'Manage activities' tab opens a page where you can create polls and questionnaires, edit, consult or delete the existing ones, and see the results for each activity:
To find out more about the Activities, please consult the article 'Nudgis media activities'
The second tab from the Administration panel, 'Moderate annotations', allows you to moderate comments and annotations in your content (i.e. content for which you are the speaker). Clicking on the button will take you to a page listing all the videos for which you have moderation rights.
If no comments or activities have been added to the media, it will not appear in the list
To refine your list, you can search by keywords in the title or commentary, by speaker or other metadata. You can also select all videos, or those containing unmoderated annotations. Once the items have been selected, you are given a choice of action: validate or reject the comment(s), or even delete them altogether. Note that the icon representing three vertically aligned dots lets you delete or reject comments individually, and that the eye-shaped icon, slightly above it, lets you hide or show the annotation.
To find out more about it, please consult the article 'Chapters, comments and annotations in Nudgis media '
The last setting in the admin panel, 'Task status', is the management of tasks in progress on your media, such as transcoding, slide detection or trimming. This allows you to check the progress of the task and its status.
The position of your media in the queue of all the tasks managed by Nudgis can vary depending on the priorities set and the workload of the server, so some tasks can take a long time, particularly in the case of long media or a group send. If a task fails, you should alert your Nudgis administration team so that they can rectify the situation.
In fact, this panel is only a monitoring tool, and most of the actions on tasks are reserved for the administrators of your platform. However, it is still useful for keeping an overview of the progress of your current tasks.
Finally, the last feature is 'Help', which will send you to help.ubicast.tv, our platform dedicated to video tutorials.
Now that we have taken a tour of the functions offered by the 'Menu', let's take a look at the other options in the top banner.
Adding content, user accounts and other top banner functions
As you may have guessed, all the site's functions, content and settings are accessible via the 'Menu'. However, you will find some handy shortcuts to these functions in the top banner of the site. Among them, we will leave aside the logo settings, which remain the responsibility of the site's administration team, except to say that clicking on it takes you back to the home page.
The search bar, on the other hand, is well worth a closer look. It offers a number of interesting ways of finding content easily. Firstly, when you enter keywords, the terms are searched for in real time and displayed in a drop-down menu below the bar. These keywords are searched for in titles and annotations, and the drop-down menu offers you the most relevant results, sorted by type of content:
If you type Enter on your keyboard, a page will be displayed containing all the search results. Clicking on the magnifying glass icon will have the same effect. On this page, you can easily filter your results:
You have the same filter options as those presented earlier in this article when describing the 'Latest media' function in the 'Menu'. But you can also filter by any type of metadata associated with the videos you are looking for, or by type of item. A box appears, similar to the one we have already seen above, but offering you two additional sets of filters:
The same goes by clicking on 'Advanced filters' at the bottom of the window, where you can access a series of additional filters based on the period of creation or addition, the number of views or comments, or storage usage:
To reset the filters to zero, click on the 'Reset filters' button at the top right of the window.
This means you can refine your selection down to the smallest detail, and find any type of content, even across a large number of media.
The last two functions accessible from the top banner are recording or uploading content, and information linked to your user account:
If you have the right to add content in a channel, you can also use the 'Add content here' button when browsing said channel. To find out more about this feature, please read the article 'Add content to Nudgis'
Let's explore the first: by clicking on 'Create', a drop-down menu opens, offering you several options: 'Record', 'Upload', or 'Advanced':
- 'Record' lets you use WebStudio , an online application designed by UbiCast to record content directly from your computer, whether it is a webcam, the computer screen, or a mixture of the two. WebStudio is a versatile and adaptable tool for easily recording your content and getting it online quickly. Discover the possibilities in the article: 'The WebStudio'.
- 'Upload' takes you to a page where you can upload your existing video files, either one by one, or simultaneously:
Once your content is uploaded, it stays in a waiting file until they are processed for the below options:
If medias are imported in a bulk, the options selected will apply to all
You can select the destination channel, define a language, and activate/deactivate four options:
- Define the media as a draft, meaning uploading it without being in 'Published' status
- Make the media a 360° video
- Enable automatic subtitles generation
- Enrich with AI, which lets you decide if the feature automatically creates a title, a description, extracts keywords, and generates a related questionnaire
You will also have an overview of the audience allowed to access the media once uploaded.
Finally, the 'Advanced settings' lets you decide to transcode the file or not, activate/deactivate slide detection, and finally activate/deactivate AutoCam detection. To find out more about these functions, please consult the articles on content editing in the 'Media editing' section of our Help Center
Disabling the 'Transcode file' option cannot coexist with enabling the 'Slide detection' and 'Autocam analysis' options. These last two operations need to be performed on a transcoded file. Launching them after the media has been uploaded will automatically activate transcoding as defined by the transcoding settings, which is a site administrator parameter.
- 'Advanced' opens a page offering you to choose between uploading a video or creating a livestream:
Depending on the option selected, a page opens with new choices. For example, in the case of a video upload, several new possibilities appear, different from the 'Upload' option:
Here, you can integrate a Youtube video with its URL, embed a code to add a content, integrate external resources, or even create an empty media page. As before, you will be able to choose the language, the destination channel, and to make the media a draft or not.
The 'Live' option allows rather similar actions:
The options are only displayed if you have the necessary rights. So it may be that only some of the features are available for your account. To find out more about adding content, read the article 'How to add media to Nudgis'
The last point remaining about navigation in Nudgis is the tab for your account information, accessible under your username in the top right-hand corner of the page.
Clicking on the username brings up a drop-down menu with two choices, along with shortcuts to 'My Channel' and 'My Media', and information regarding the used and remaining storage space for the account:
- 'My profile' opens a page dedicated to your personal account information. Here you will be able to enter/modify several settings about your account, such as the email address linked to it, your metadata, the organisation of your notifications, and other possibilities for setting up your user account:
You can also set the language for emails, change your password, have an overview of the authentication groups you are part of, and access information such as your API key, if your administrator allowed it to be displayed:
You are strongly advised not to change your login email address without the approval of the site administration team. However, this change is only possible for local connections. If authentication is via a third-party service (LDAP, SAML or other), then account settings are managed via this service, and remain under the supervision of your administration team. You can find out more about the different authentication methods in the article 'Authentication 3/3: authentication services'.
- To conclude, and as its name suggests, the last button 'Logout' lets you log out of your user account:
Navigation on your video platform now holds no secrets for you, so it is time to embark on your journey. First stop: the 'Nudgis' section of our Help Center, where you can pick up all the maps you need to chart your own course. We hope you enjoy your journey aboard Nudgis!
